Speaker Bios > Debbie Wilkie

Debbie Wilkie has been a police officer with the Hamilton Police Service since 1987.  She has a BA in Sociology, a Bachelor of Arts in Education and holds an Ontario Teaching Certificate.  Her professional highlights include: Uniform Patrol, Community Services, Child Abuse Branch, Bail Court Officer and the Training Branch where she is presently assigned as the Acting Staff Sergeant.

Debbie is an active participant in her community. Her involvement includes:
- Vice president for Ontario Association of Police Educators
- Board director for Wayside(treatment center for men located in Hamilton)
- Board director for the Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton
- Advisory board director for Womankind(treatment center for women located in Hamilton)
- A member of the HPS honour guard since 1993

In addition to her instructional duties within the training branch, Debbie was also a part-time instructor for the Law and Security/Police Foundations  program at Niagara College.  Since 2007 Debbie has been a regular instructor for the Ontario Police College Leadership Unit where she delivers The Emotional Survival presentation across the province.
